On Saturday, it was really nice out, so my friend Lauren and I went to the Hangang - the Han River - and had a picnic with wine and peanut butter-honey sandwiches. Delicous! Definitely something to do again. Then for dinner, some friends of mine had a BBQ. His dad works for the New Zealand embassy here and they have a huge house. They made ribs, BBQ chicken and burgers. It was so good! It was refreshing to get a little taste of home. Good timing, I'm starting to get a little homesick about certain things. It also made me think about studying International Relations more and working abroad someday. It's something that I plan to continue looking into.
Family time is going well also. Since Sunday was Teacher's Day, I had lunch with everyone as usual and then Hye min and I spent some time together. We went to Iceberry and had fruit potpingsu, which is basically just crushed ice, lots of fruit and frozen yogurt. Delicious and refreshing! I will be getting that again for sure. Then we did a little shopping at the department store. I got some flip flops, sucessful shopping! After that, we went to a movie!! I seriously love going to movies :) We saw Thor in 3D. In Korea, the movie is pronounced 'toe ruh' I was so confused when she asked me to see it, haha. I was a little skeptical about the movie, but I enjoyed it. The story line was ok, but the action stuff was cool. I never knew the story of Thor so that kept me interested I guess. I thought that we had had a pretty special day, but then she said we were going to get some pizza. Pizza is a treat here because most people don't have ovens so you have to order it. It's also a little more expensive. It was a perfect dend tot he night. Of course then it was dark out and they didn't want me to go home by myself. So sweet, they drove me home. They are so amazing and I feel so blessed to have them in my life. Hye min and I also had some good bonding time. I'm looking forward to spending more time with her.
Alright, better get back to teaching. Today my 6th graders have a reading test...I get to watch 'Despicable Me' with them all day. I love my life!
